About
Kirsten Wolff
After growing up in the north of Germany, in Flensburg, and studying in Kiel and Zurich, I moved to Munich which I now call home. Since the end of my professional life in August 2020, I have had the opportunity and the great pleasure to dedicate myself fully to painting.
I began experimenting with acrylic painting in 2017. From the very beginning, I was thrilled by the wide scope of techniques which acrylic allows. Today, painting has become my passion.
All photos in the gallery show my original acrylic works. As inspiration, I initially used paintings by artists like e.g. Wassily Kandinsky or Gabriele Münter. I also draw inspiration from photos: either realistic or modified in some way.
My focus has been realistic, expressionistic and abstract landscapes. I am also fascinated by purely abstract paintings, using collage materials such as sand and handmade paper.
A constant of my work is my sense of enjoyable colour combinations. One of my favourites is dark blue/ turquoise/ rust/ sand which are the colours found in the beautiful jewellery of the Tutanchamun treasure.
Summer 2021, I started using acrylic paint on stone paper which has its own challenges and possibilities. In 2022 I started experimenting with a pouring technique on stone paper.
